Summer in Full Swing

Our summer flowers are blooming, the swim season is wrapping up, and the kids are staying busy with summer activities.

The kids pick some fun food to make each week. Recently they made hen nest pies. They had fun making them. They tasted good too.

They also recently did a "liquid layers" science experiment.  

Alexa missed a meet due to her dance recital and we had no meet on July 4th. After three week of practicing everyday she not only set new personal best times in freestyle and backstroke, she also won her heat in backstroke, and took 12th place overall.

One day they went to a county pool with some slides and play areas like this hippo.

They did some service this past week by going to the elementary school and picking up trash on the playground.

They also tried their hand at pointillism by painting with pencil erasers.

A local bowling alley gives them free bowling for every a they get on their report card. They went bowling this past week to take advantage of that. They did not have any bumper lanes available, which increased the level of difficulty a bit for them.

One activity the kids like to do every summer is for us to put toys in frozen water balloons and then they have to work them out, either by breaking the ice or waiting for it to melt.

This week the kids made apple pie egg rolls.More importantly you can see that Alexa got glasses this week! She is very excited.

Yesterday we had another swim meet. It turned out to be our first loss of the year. The other team was really good. Our kids swam well. Trevor set a new personal best for freestyle and butterfly. Alexa set a personal best in backstroke again and got to swim in a relay for her first time. Next week we wrap up the season with our divisional meet. We already beat both teams earlier in the season so we are hoping to go out with another win.
