Our Thanksgiving

We had a pretty low key but nice Thanksgiving holiday.  To start the long weekend off,  Wednesday Kristi and I went on a short get away, staying overnight downtown at the Perry Hotel.  It was a pretty cool historic (old) hotel.  The kids had fun at home that evening playing wii games we rented from Redbox (Just Dance 4 and Toy Story Mania!).  Nikkail got up early Thursday morning and started mashed potatoes cooking in a couple of crock pots.  Then while Kristi made some pies, Draeden, Liam, and I had a fun mountain bike ride from the Coyote Hollow trailhead (by the Draper Temple) up to Ghost Falls.  It was just a little cold, but the trails were is great shape.  Here's a picture of Liam and Draeden on the rocks near the falls. 

We (well, all of us except Maryn) went to Kristi's parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner, with her parents and also her sister Suzi's family.  We had a nice meal and then afterward a devotional where we sang songs accompanied by Kristi's dad on acoustic guitar, and talked about things we were thankful for.  Then we also sang some fun Thanksgiving songs about eating turkeys, including  "Except for the Turkey", and a new version of Queen's "We Will Rock You" changed by Kristi's dad to be "We Will Eat You".  Everyone did a good job of clapping and stomping along with that one.  We also played a game of Puerto Rico (which Kristi won by a long ways with the all time high score we have ever seen of 64!).  For Kristi and I and our boys, the evening ended at a reasonable hour and we went to bed.  Maryn and Nikkail however, left around 11:30 pm with Kristi's mom and other cousins for some all night Black Friday shopping.  I think they were out until around 4:00 am, so of course it took them several days to recover from that (hopefully they enjoyed it enough to make it worth while.)

Friday afternoon we all went to South Town Mall for some Christmas shopping.  The boys had fun riding the mall train, we ate in the food court, and then Maryn was already conveniently there to start her 5:00pm shift at the Western Nut Company kiosk where she is working.  Here are some pictures of our outing at the Mall.

 

It was fun to have a couple of days off from school and work.  For Sunday dinner dessert, we finished up the last of the remaining pies, so I guess Thanksgiving is officially over.
