On Monday we went to Colonial Williamsburg. There we got to see the Governor's Palace, a blacksmith, silver smith, and wood workers. It was a lot of fun. I have more pictures in a Williamsburg album.

Two Thirds of a Triangle
This past weekend we took a family trip to Williamsburg VA. The area is referred to as America's Historic Triangle. ON our trip we only saw Jamestown, and Williamsburg. We skipped Yorktown.
On Saturday we drove down to the Jamestown Settlement. It is a recreation of the original fort and a neighboring Indian village. They have people reenacting how people lived at that time. We got to help out with the making of a burn-out canoe, cleaning the fur off raw hide, and other fun stuff like that.. They also had replicas of the boats and the fort. In the fort we were able to see how they cooked and try on the armor.

ReplyDeleteWasn't there some confusion about which part of Jamestown to visit? How did you decide which one you wanted to see?
ReplyDeleteWe ended up going to the Jamestown Settlement (replica) instead of Historic Jamestown (original site) because the people we talked to recommended it. I think it was the better way to go. The historic Jamestown is mostly an archaeological dig to look at. This one had building to walk around in and actors portraying life back then.
