Derek's 6th grade teacher requires the students to reflect on their lives, write several essays about their childhood and family dynamics, and include pictures. I've been helping Derek with it and it has been fun to look back over these last 11 years. Time passing is such a bizarre concept because though the same toys, books, and other household items are still intact in our house and have not decomposed, those years that we had Janelle and Derek seem like another lifetime to me!
Derek is also very similar now to how he was as a baby. Happy, bright, up like a shot in the morning, good-hearted, though a little aggressive to get what he wants, and extremely motivated by what fun he can have.

Here are all the kids at the time of Eric and Sarah's wedding. The baby is Nikkail, right?

Here are the kids all over Scott. Christine and Melissa are trying "rag curlers" before the next day field trip to "Pioneer School."

Just after Christmas I hurt my toe so bad that I had to stay completely off of it. It swelled up really badly, and then from not moving it for too long I've lost some movement in it. The dear girls made me breakfast in bed, they all shared my jobs for the day, and came when I rang the bell. It was fun.
The babies in the picture with all the kids are Koby and Rebekah.
ReplyDeleteFun to see these pictures. Yea, Nikkail is the one on the far left, already almost 2 in this photo.
ReplyDeleteIt's really fun to see these pictures! Thanks for posting, Holly.
ReplyDeleteOf course! Nikkail is older than Derek.
ReplyDeleteAnd, BTW Tina visited us from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon! Had a really nice time. We played Chronology, ate Tortas, went shopping, she made a Valentine, and we ate Grandma Jensen's Raspberry Walnut Torte. Thanks for coming, Tina!
Thinking about this post made me think about how much we enjoy playing with Derek (and all of your other kids) whenever we've visited each other.
