Another great month! We started the month in Boise. We took the kids (except Peter) and Scott's Dad, sister and her 2 boys down the Boise River. We've been wanting to do this for a while, but could never work it out to be there when the river was open for floating. It's such a calm river, it's just a really fun float. We rented a big raft and had a great time.
The other really fun thing we did as a family was to go to the zoo. We had such a fun time.
Daniel received his Webelos Badge and Arrow of Light! We're so proud of him. He also got to participate in a 5th grade fair. He drew backgrounds for his 3 Lego Technic characters and displayed them. Daniel is a great artist!
Mary was chosen as student of the month for her class. She and I got to go to a special recognition breakfast where she received this plaque and a water bottle! She is a super student and we are so proud of her.
Anna got to participate in a Tai Kwon Do class at school for 2 weeks, and then we went to the studio for a graduation ceremony where she got to break a board! It was awesome.
Peter did his first preschool program, where they performed some cute songs and poems. He memorized The Pledge of Allegiance this month!
The kids also had their school jog-a-thon, each got to go on a field trip, and then just when it seemed like we needed a break, it was time to go off-track. We've been having a great time!
Scott has got his business license and has met with a few potential customers, so we're really excited and nervous and terrified. He named his business Guide Paddle, inspired by our experience on the river earlier this month. He'd love to tell you about why he chose that name. Because his boss was pressuring him to make some travel plans to get involved with a long term project that he really didn't want to get involved in, he gave his 2 weeks notice. He has been feeling so dishonest about being paid to do almost no work, so it felt like the right thing to do, but also super scary. There may be another opportunity for him to earn some income and get more Salesforce.com experience, while he gets his business up and running. I'll keep you posted on that. We feel really sure that this is the path to follow right now, but we'd still love your prayers as we step into the dark.
And I have been busy canning and freezing and squirreling away food for the winter (and possibly a bout of no income). I've done raspberry jam and apple butter, canned peaches, pears, and lots of tomato products - salsa, juice, sauce, and diced. I've frozen peaches, green beans, shredded zucchini, raspberries, and cantaloupe. And almost every night for dinner, we eat straight out of our garden. I'm sad it's almost over, but also relieved because all that canning takes a lot of time and energy.
That's great that Daniel earned his Webelos and Arrow of Light! I hope Scott's new business goes ok and he is able to find clients.
