We also decided to get a new cat. Her name is Tiger Lily, and everyone really likes her.
Maryn has decided to take a break from school and work full time and she recently started a new job working at a Farmer's insurance office as a receptionist. Sometimes she also does sales calls and gets commissions on sales she makes. So far she is enjoying it. Nikkail has been very very busy lately - in addition to her normal busy schedule with School, Young Women, Debate, Orchestra and Symphony, she recently played in the orchestra for Bingham's production of the musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Rehearsals and then performances took a huge amount of her time but she really enjoyed it a lot and has decided she would love to have a job of playing in the orchestra for Broadway musicals. Nikkail also recently auditioned for Concerto Night at her school. She didn't think she would get in because her teacher said it was mainly for seniors, but she practiced really hard and did very well and made the cut, so now in February she gets to play a solo on stage wearing a formal gown. Only 10 people were selected to perform at Concerto Night, and it has been a goal of Nikkail's for the past couple of years, so she is very excited about doing it. Draeden gets a lot of homework in his sixth grade ALPS class this year, but he is keeping up with it well. He is also attending scouts and working on scouting requirements, though he is the only 11 year old scout in our ward. Liam is enjoying school and does a great job of getting all of his homework done. Draeden and Liam spend a lot of time playing together and it is great that they are such good friends. They also both really enjoy playing with Tiger Lily.
Kristi has managed to unite the Districts against the Capitol, defeat President Snow, and assassinate Coin, who was getting a little too ambitious anyway, if you ask me. And I've recently returned from a trip to East Berlin, where I was able to arrange an exchange of spies between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.
Also, Kristi has been following our tradition of making a pie for dessert each Sunday in the Autumn. So far we have had apple, banana cream, pumpkin cheesecake, coconut cream, key lime, cherry, peach, and lemon meringue, and they have all been delicious!
Fun update! Congratulations, Nikkail! You totally lost me on that bit about uniting the districts and traveling to East Berlin.

ReplyDeleteI was just skimming and read the part about Mark going to Germany. For a moment, I forgot that there isn't an East Germany anymore. I was feeling excited for Mark to travel!
ReplyDeleteYea, it'd be exciting if I ever did actually travel. I haven't been outside the U.S. for almost 10 years now - I don't even have a current passport. We are going to Arizona next month!

ReplyDeleteWe didn't go to Zion National Park because the weather forecast was for temperature lows in the 20's and snow. We are planning to try to go while the boys are off-track in December if there is any slightly warmer weather, or if not we will go when they are off-track in March. We are prepared to camp with lows in the mid 30's, but not in temperatures as cold as it got down there this weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe were nearby (but quite a bit higher up) in Cannonville, near Bryce Canyon. It was pretty cold there at night (low 20's), and it did snow a bit, so it probably is better that you weren't camping. We were in a hotel, which made it quite a bit more manageable.
