Florida

The kids had a couple of days off from school this past week, so we took a trip with Sarah's parents down to Florida to get out of the winter weather we were experiencing here. It was fantastic weather. We were wearing short sleeves all week. We spent some time at the hotel pool, and walking around the resort. Most of our time was spent at amusement parks though. We went to Legoland for a day and Universal Studios for 3 days, 2 days at Islands of Adventure, and 1 day at Universal Studios. The crowds were almost non-existent, so we were able to go on all the rides we wanted without spending much time in line. I Uploaded the pictures to an album. Some of them are also here in this post:

Legoland

The rides at Legoland are geared at younger kids which meant that our kids could ride everything in the park. My favorite was the safari ride. It has life size Lego sculptures of lots of animals. The various sculptures around the park are amazing. Both kids got their Legoland drivers licenses as well.

Universal Studios

The big draw for Universal Studios is, "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter". Trevor has been reading the books with Sarah, so he was really excited about it. They did a fantastic job of recreating the atmosphere for Hogsmeade, and Hogwarts. The castle ride is my favorite ride there. They take you flying on broomsticks around Hogwarts. (Not really, but they did a nice job making it feel like it.) We also went to Honey Dukes to get some candy, and we ate at the Three Broomsticks.

We also spent a lot of time at the Dr. Suess area. The kids also enjoyed plying in the water in the Curious George area, and we went on the roller coasters, some of which Alexa was too small to ride. We had a really fun time.

  1. That looks like a lot of fun. And enjoying the nice weather looks like the best part to me!

  2. Cool, thanks for sharing! I'm sure that's the last time Alexa won't be able to ride, right?
